DESCRIPTION:Lean Construction Education Program\n\n\n\nAbout the Course\n\nLean Construction is driven to minimize costs and maximize value on each project completed\, challenging all stakeholders to develop and apply better ways to manage the overall construction process.\n\n\n\nThe updated Lean Construction Education Program engages students with numerous activities and group discussions designed to apply Lean Construction principles and practices. Key course activities include the Parade of Trades exercise where participants will learn the effects of varying and unreliable workflow versus smooth and reliable workflow. Students will also learn and practice the Last Planner  System in a simulation that teaches students to engage in a way that produces predictable workflow and rapid learning.\n\n\n\nAfter participants complete all five units in the program\, they become eligible to sit for an exam to earn the Certificate of Management   Lean Construction (CM-Lean).\n\n\n\nWho Should Take This Course\n\nConstruction operations staff from general contractors\, specialty contractors\, construction managers and trade partners at all levels from chief operating officer to project engineer and foreman.\n\n\n\nMassachusetts Express Grant Program\n\nAGC MA is an approved training provider under the Massachusetts Express Grant Program. Our members have access to state-funded support for select professional development offerings. Eligible AGC MA courses are now listed in the Express Grant Training Directory\, allowing firms to apply grant funds directly toward participation.\n\n\n\nThis Lean Construction Course is an approved Express Program course. \n\nApply for funding here! \n\n\n\nGrant funds are limited to $15\,000 per company per calendar year\, $300 per instructional hour\, and $3\,000 per employee per course. Businesses are responsible for covering additional costs beyond these caps out-of-pocket.\n\n\n\nMassachusetts businesses with 100 or fewer Massachusetts W-2 employees may apply. In order to qualify\, businesses must pay into the Workforce Training Fund. All for-profit companies pay into the fund.\n\n\n\nSee full Guidelines here.\n\n\n\nInstructor:\n\nColin Milberg | Ph.D.\n\nPrincipal\n\n\n\nColin has over 20 years of construction management experience in both the office and the field\, combined with seven years of university teaching experience in construction engineering and management. Colin has worked with public and private organizations on projects ranging from $2 million to $1 billion\, assisting project teams and organizations in implementing Lean Construction and Enterprise practices. Colin has a Ph.D. from U.C. Berkeley\, where he studied Lean Construction and tolerance management with the Lean Construction Institute (LCI) founders. In addition\, Colin co-founded LCI San Diego and LCI Southern New England\, was on the core group for LCI New England\, and was a member of the International Group for Lean Construction advisory board.
