FINALISTS
Matt Awad
Matt Awad has dedicated 27 years to the construction industry, beginning with a fascination for building sparked by his first set of Legos at age seven. During high school, he gained hands-on experience working summers for a residential construction company, engaging in roofing, framing, and general labor. While in college, he worked part-time at Home Depot, which led him to start a thriving side business specializing in foundations and hardscape work. Internships with various construction companies, including a pivotal role as a superintendent with Skanska, solidified his career path. After graduating, he joined Skanska full-time, contributing significantly to the Terminal A redevelopment project. In 2007, Matt transitioned to Gilbane Building Company as a senior office engineer but soon returned to fieldwork, managing numerous projects from 2008 to 2021. In 2021, he advanced to the role of roaming superintendent/senior general superintendent, overseeing field operations for all projects by Gilbane’s Interiors Group in Massachusetts. Matt's extensive experience and deep commitment to construction underscore his significant contributions to the industry.
Manny Hoyo
Manny Hoyo is a senior superintendent with over 15 years of construction industry experience. His aptitude in the construction field and his dedication and commitment to the workforce have led to his rapid growth at Skanska. He recently worked on the new Middle and High School project (Ch. 149A) for the Town of Belmont. Manny’s prior project experience ranges from a $2 million interior fit out project to $686 million campus construction projects. Manny holds Builders Licenses in the city of Boston and Cambridge. He also holds a Massachusetts Construction Supervisors License and has completed 30-Hour OSHA Safety Training.
Congratulations to the Winners!
