Description: What is an NFPA 241 Plan and Why Do I Need One? Join us at the start of our Construction Fire Safety Morning to get your feet wet with an overview of what compliance with NFPA 241: Standard for Safeguarding Construction, Alteration, and Demolition Operations means. Learn about the function of an NFPA 241 Plan, how it's enforced, and who is involved in the process.
Who Will Benefit: Anyone responsible for building fire safety including: Building owners, contractors, installers, insurance, facility managers, system designers, inspecting authorities.

Building Owners are responsible for the development and implementation of a Construction Fire Safety Program per NFPA 241. The Owner's Construction Fire Safety panel will discuss the Owner's roles, responsibilities, and best practices. The relationship between Ownership, General Contractors, and AHJ's will be highlighted to understand the collaborative approach. An effective Construction Fire Safety Program is only possible with engagement from all parties to create a safe environment for construction workers, occupants and first responders alike.

9:30 - 10:15am Construction Fire Safety Plans: How to Deliver the Proper Documentation AHJ Panel
With construction fires making front page news recently, it is important to understand the associated requirements that result in 780 CMR scoping NFPA 241, Safeguarding Construction. Alteration, and Demolition Operations. Many jurisdictions have come to expect this documentation to be provided as a condition of building permit and use the document as a baseline for site fire safety inspections. Every jurisdiction is different and with that come different expectations for construction fire safety. This program will outline the contents of a Construction Fire Safety Plan and provide insight in to what the AHJ is likely looking for in a Construction Fire Safety Plan as well as the implementation of the plan.
