Casual Conversations with Powerful Wo...
Description
BWiC invites you to join the conversation, to build connection, advance an initiative, maybe even solve a problem or two. We are honored to welcome prominent women within the commercial construction industry to share the intentional and the serendipitous, their hero's and the villain's, the opportunities captured, lost and set free, and what they spend far too much time doing, with their time.
We promise, it will be worth yours!
This month we are featuring Kim Cochrane, Project Architect/Construction Administrator and Erin Miller, LEED GA, Principal | Director of Business Development, of SmithGroup.
Come join your peers in a comfortable fireside chat covering the ABCD?s of two career stories. Kim Cochrane (CA) and Erin Miller (BD) will share their perspectives across their roles. Kim and Erin will reflect on lessons learned -successes and failures- and the values that underscore their approach to doing the work they love. Learn how these women are advancing DEI goals and why Construction Administration is one of the most critical Business Development functions in our industry.

Kim began her career as a project and BIM coordinator. As a leader and expert in SmithGroup?s Construction Administration discipline, Kim delights in creative problem-solving. She has been involved with various renovation and new construction projects, predominantly for the firm?s Healthcare market client base. In her role as a construction administrator, she has been responsible for the coordination of documents with the internal staff and consultants. She has also been responsible for the BIM model coordination with other disciplines as well as model maintenance. Kim is passionate about spending time in the field, recouping lessons learned, sharing out information and the joy of subject matter mastery with her peers. She builds deep rapport and trust with clients and CM partners, focused on being present and engaged, wherever her work takes her.
Erin is a lifelong learner, excited about the work the firm?s clients are doing in genomics, cancer care, student success, district-scale planning and more. Erin builds and supports high-performing project teams, ensuring a collaborative process and exceptional outcomes. She identifies strategic partnerships as well as potential alternative funding sources to support client and project goals. Erin?s passion for Real Estate Development, deal flow, research & insights and strategic partnerships has helped SmithGroup grow and thrive across new markets such as Higher Education and Science & Technology and scale in established markets such as Healthcare. In her day-to-day role as a Principal and Director of Business Development, she balances client strategy with operational responsibilities, budget management, marketing strategy and staff mentorship on local and national levels. Erin is able to quickly synthesize new information into a cohesive result for her team?s use. A deep commitment to her peers? success, strong work ethic and love of the built environment informs her approach to problem-solving. She enjoys her work embedded in projects, developing strategic business plans for Community Impact, living SmithGroup?s J.E.D.I. values. A genuine love of connecting people to each other in service of community underscores all she does.
