MBTA Contract No. Y42CN01- DB Red Line Hi-Rail Access Tunnel, Cambridge, MA

The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) is planning on advertising for Design Build services for the Red Line Hi-Rail Access Tunnel in Cambridge, MA

This project will provide a new access point to the Red Line at Alewife Station. The MBTA Red Line subway northwest of the Charles River operates in a below grade tunnel. Maintenance access is four miles from Alewife Station at the First Street gate. The existing tunnel is over 25-ft below ground surface near Alewife.

Anticipated Advertisement Date: April 2026
Estimated Construction Cost: $42,000,000.00
