The global pandemic has most likely irreversibly changed the design, function and purpose of the workplace as we knew it.  We need to accept that the workplace location is not a mandate any more. So it must be a magnet.  Who will go back to the office and why?  What will be different in the design, function and purpose of the office when workers return – both short and long term?  How do we embrace safety and a healthy and productive environment?  Join leaders from Elkus Manfredi Architects and WB Engineers as they explore what makes a magnet.

Elizabeth Lowrey, Principal, Elkus Manfredi Architects

Elizabeth Lowrey has been responsible for Elkus Manfredi’s interior architecture studio since the firm’s founding in 1988 and a part of the firm’s leadership since being named a Principal in 2002. Admired for her sophisticated design eye, business acumen, and skillful management, she attributes her success to her collaborative approach with clients. Her projects range from corporate, hospitality, residential, retail/entertainment, to higher education environments with clients including Walt Disney Imagineering, Publicis Groupe, Boston Consulting Group, New Balance, and Equinox. She is widely recognized as a pioneer in the design of branded workplace environments that enhance organizational performance and firm culture.
Boston Magazine named her among the 100 Most Influential Bostonians in 2020. Boutique Design calls her a “maverick” and “silo buster,” and Interior Design includes her on a list of “20 Inspiring Women who make up the new face of the design industry.” Elizabeth is a frequent speaker at design and architecture forums; she delivered the 2019 Commencement Address at Massachusetts College of Art and Design (MassArt). And her insights and ideas have been featured in numerous publications including The New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, and Metropolis.
Elizabeth received the CoreNet Service Provider Leadership Award based upon the recommendations of her clients. She is a member of Auburn University’s Interior Architecture Advisory Council, a board member of REFA Boston and the Design Museum Foundation, a member of the Editorial Advisory Board of Contract magazine, a board member of Heading Home, and a Vice Chair of the Young Collectors Night for the Park Avenue Armory Winter Show. She holds a Bachelor of Interior Architecture from Auburn University and an Honorary Doctorate of Fine Arts from MassArt.

Linda MacLeod Fannon, VP and Workplace Strategist, Elkus Manfredi Architects

Vice President at Elkus Manfredi Architects, Linda MacLeod Fannon brings seasoned design leadership skills to interior design projects for top corporate, retail, and financial corporations across the country. An excellent communicator, Linda skillfully leads clients and teams through all phases of a project. She is adept at balancing the unique needs of individuals within larger institutions while supporting overall organizational goals.
Among her recent projects, Linda led the design of the interiors of five offices for Charles River Associates. She completed work on several workspaces and the new headquarters for The Boston Consulting Group, the New Balance Headquarters and retail flagship at New Boston Landing, as well as leading the design of the new corporate campus and retail prototypes for Citizens Bank.
Before joining Elkus Manfredi, Linda was Senior Vice President and Senior Manager of Retail Design for Bank of America. Prior to holding that position, she worked in retail brand positioning for both large and small retailers – including Target Corporation and Timberland Stores.
Linda is a member and former president of the New England chapter of the Retail Design Institute, a member of International Interior Design Association and a member of CREW Boston. Linda earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design from the University of Massachusetts, and a Master of Arts in Exhibit Production and Design from the University of Essex in Colchester, England. She is NCIDQ certified.

Desmond Greene, Managing Principal, WB Engineers+Consultants

Desmond Greene, the Managing Principal of our team in New York, has over 25 years of experience in the field. He loves engineering and makes sure that our quality meets our high standards, and his work with COVID-19 and the impact of indoor air exposure is no exception. Desmond balances his time between leading projects, leading our mechanical quality control process and working to improve efficiency - both in our design concepts and as related to how our team works. He is a Certified Energy Manager (CEM), a credential that is widely accepted and used as a measure of professional accomplishment within the energy management field.
 
Peter Dussault, Managing Principal, WB Engineers+Consultants

Peter Dussault, the Managing Principal of our team in Boston, was the third employee at WB Engineers. Peter has led many notable headquarters and repositioning projects in the Boston market in the last 20 years. He has purposefully led his team to develop a reputation of excellence in workplace and infrastructure design. Peter is a member of the Workplace Operator Readiness Council (WORC), a global council of workplace operators who will share, coordinate, and develop information for advancements towards a safe and healthy office.
