Join us for an engaging panel discussion exploring how the new energy code is being implemented across Institutional (including K–12), Large Commercial, and Multifamily building types. Representatives from Turner and Consigli Construction will compare project typologies, sharing real-world challenges, lessons learned, and impacts from the transition. Topics will include pre-construction and cost considerations (a key concern for owners), execution of design intent on projects that have built in the new code, quality control strategies like mockups, and the role of design teams in accurate pricing. Owners and contractors alike will gain valuable insight into navigating potential pitfalls, anticipating added costs, and planning for success under the new code.
Attendees are encouraged to submit questions in advance to shape the discussion.

This is a live, online panel moderated by Christina McPike from WinnCompanies with project presentations and lessons from the field led by Ken Amano and Michael Barry from Consigli Construction and Ryan S Cleverdon and Ed Demille from Turner Construction.
Moderator
Christina McPike is Vice President of Energy and Sustainability at WinnCompanies, which is a family founded and operated multifamily housing developer and manager. Since joining Winn in 2013, Christina has overseen dozens of energy efficiency projects across the company’s portfolio of affordable housing communities. Under Christina’s leadership, WinnDevelopment successfully integrates high-performance and low-carbon design principles in every project, from ground-up new construction to occupied rehabs and deep energy retrofits.
Presenters
Ken Amano, LEED AP, CPHB, is the Director of Technical Quality at Consigli Construction and a former design professional at William Rawn Associates Architects. He is involved from Preconstruction and Façade Design-Assist through Building Enclosure Commissioning on many of Consigli’s projects from New England to Washington DC, interfacing between trade partners and design teams to develop and fully coordinate building envelopes. Given his design background, Ken also troubleshoots a wide range of construction issues and is the technical lead for Consigli’s Quality department.
Michael Barry is a Senior M/E/P Manager and Regional Lead for Metro Boston at Consigli Construction. Having previously worked for RDK Engineers, Mike has provided specialized expertise to our teams over the last 17 years, ranging from the preliminary stages of design through commissioning and turnover. He is focused on Large Project Development across a broad spectrum of building types and is responsible for leading MEP/FP-related Pre-Construction and Procurement with Owners and Design Teams, helping to establish target budgets as well as energy goals. In addition, Mike actively assists with facilitating Building Permits and ISD / FD Inspections.
Edward DeMille serves as the Northeast Regional Quality Control Manager with Turner Construction. Ed joined Turner Construction in 2015 after a 15-year career in architecture with RIZVI Architects, bringing a deep understanding of design and construction collaboration. With over 25 years in the industry, he has worked extensively in aviation, higher education, and office fitouts. Among his notable work, the Harvard Science and Engineering Complex stands out for its complexity and scale. Edward was also part of the BU CILSE project team, which received a CMAA award in 2018, and holds a Construction Quality Management for Contractors certification from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. He lives in Pembroke, MA, and enjoys skiing, camping, and hiking with his family.
Ryan Cleverdon, P.E., CPHB, is a Project Manager with Turner Construction in Boston. Ryan joined Turner Construction in 2015 after 7 years as a Structural Engineer with Parsons Brinckerhoff. He has primarily worked on Commercial Core/Shell projects, specializing in structural and exterior envelope systems. A licensed Professional Engineer in Massachusetts, he also serves as the Boston Area Subject Matter Expert (SME) on Passive Buildings and is a Certified Passive House Builder. He lives in Westborough, MA, and enjoys playing soccer and spending time with his daughter.
